PJs to work

It’s all about being lazy. It’s all about staying awake.
These last rainy days I find it particularly challenging to crawl out of bed. Therefore, there are two clothes’ qualities that I consider paramount in my choice of outfit: color and coziness. Now when the air’s starting to get crispy I wear natural fabrics exclusively: cotton, silk and wool. Those just keep you warm. This time of year it feels just right to put on clothes of a more or less free cut. (But mind your silhouette and wear hills by all means!)
To protect oneself from falling asleep, it is important not to neglect colors. A splash of pink, orange or red is to wear not only to refresh your outfit, but to lift your spirits. You can even waltz like this to work – and believe me: wearing a beautiful juicy color you will want to do nothing but waltz around.

Cowgirl meets school

Nicky came. And so did the school. Therefore, I needed to figure out what to wear.

Thank god, we don’t have to wear uniform to school anymore. In my opinion, you just want to look descent, which doesn’t forbid you to play with your looks. The beginning of semester is usually accompanied by the most miserable weather, so you kind of have to protect yourself against drizzle and wind. So, my solution to the double trouble – preppy rules and bad weather – is a leather vest. It’s just so wonderfully western! You can create an uncomplicated yet stylish look with just basics – jeans and a sweater – if you in possession of a leather vest. I combine it with my Kennel&Schmenger boots (http://www.kennel-schmenger.de/en/) with marvelous Swarovsky crystal stars on the sides. It’s my little school trick: “hide” your accessories on your shoes, take the beautiful vest off and stay in class as an appropriately modest student without irritating your teachers. And after class you can still enjoy a hint of a cowgirl-chic.

Countryside

Hello, dear friends,
reporting to you from countryside where I’m currently seeking peace and quiet on a vineyard. Since I haven’t done my homework as a blogger and have only my wine grower outfit to present, which features a mere warm hat as well as gumboots and, therefore, doesn’t deserve mentioning, I introduce to you pictures more of the fabulous gardens I go for walks in than of myself. Those surround the cozy little city of Heidelberg and provide the best possible stage set for relaxation. Some of the facilities (like tree nursery Huben: www.huben.de ) offer courses on gardening and, as you probably already have guessed, plants for your very own sweet green paradise. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
And I’m going to the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea and miss my beloved girl with a camera Nicky Lee while doing so.
See U next week.
Sincerely yours,

E.R.

And to spice things up...

Owl

While working on a semester paper round the clock at home, one doesn’t necessarily dress up. Still, the writing comes easier when wearing something pretty. I’m happy to have been blessed with healthy eyes, which I intend to keep that way. That’s why I always wear my beautiful gasses to protect myself from pc screen radiation.  These glasses are a piece of art: the frame has real flowers in it. So I always lighten up when having to work on PC – I get to wear my eye jewelry.
To cope up with the pressure of a deadline I imagine myself as an owl: being active at night with such wonderfully contoured eyes. So if I have to toil, I’m going to be toiling in VOGUE

Stripes

First, I wanna thank you all for the worries and say that I’m feeling much better now. Being feverish is not a position inviting one to dress up and write. Finally, having passed that, I’m happy to swoop back in.

In terms of fashion, I am a very girly girl. And still I am happy to be friends with lots of even girlier girls than myself with a keen sense of style. And – I swear to God – every one of them preaches the same credo – with a tiny little difference, which lies in the last word. One says, you can’t have enough of jackets, another, of skirts. I myself am really fond of my blazers. If short of space, I would rather get rid of my fridge than let one of them go.

This time I decided to adopt S’s point of view and goofy around with stripes. (I always adored S, you know, for her amazing talent to make every outfit somehow work. And then again, maybe she just thoroughly picks out her outfits.) I strived to widen my horizon and, instead of wearing them with jean shirts and loafers (the classics) went with something more elegant. Here is me, struggling to make an appropriate office look with an inappropriate in an office (but oh so chic) striped top.

Feeling Blue

Witnessing the matters of weather getting worse and worse actually coming to worst, I experienced – for the first time in a long time – a new for me longing for heat. (And the ones who know me are familiar with my absolutely unsufferable mood after a long exposure to sun.) So I dug out some pictures of this summer to keep warm (and protect the loved ones). The general tone of the photo session couldn’t be more applicable to the current state of mind: feeling blue. So here are my pieces of sweltering heat right in the middle of whiny autumn. And while you’re looking at those, I’m off to search through my drawers for some warm woolen socks.
Sincerely yours,

E.R.

 Casual Friday

Well, as usual, this Friday took me by surprise. It’s most assuredly true of Fridays after a pretty busy week. One’s still living on a working schedule, but the weekend is already hanging upon our noses. The good thing – and the bad,– about Fridays is that the day tends to grow old and become a night before one even notices this metamorphose. After work (or school) you go for a bite with friends; which leads to friendly cocktails. Boom – and you find yourself on a night terrace drinking wine and chatting with old buddies. So, when figuring out what to wear, one has to consider the opportunity of needing an evening outfit at the end of the day. With that said I’m going to suggest you what I call “going universal”. Mostly, such outfits are surprisingly simple. You just need the basics which you then spice up with one chic detail. I always go with jeans and a black blazer (also replaceable with black leather jacket). I usually would’ve taken my 13cm-pumps but, since I was going for a really long walk, I decided to wear more comfy shoes. (Balerinas are also acceptable.) My final trick is a shiny necklace and some red nail polish, which give the look a glam touch and still are more than appropriate in the daytime.
Please, share with me some of your ploys. And, of course, enjoy the weekend.
Sincerely yours,
E.R.
